Church Conference
Annually, the church invites all members to the Church Conference in order to vote on important matters of administration and ministry. This annual Church Conference represents the highest level of temporal authority within the local church. Church Council
This Council represents the highest level of ongoing leadership within our local church, Port Charlotte UMC. In order to provide oversight and leadership throughout the year, the Church Council serves as our Church Conference’s executive agency, monitoring ministry progress and voting on important matters. The Council’s primary duties include setting strategic direction for the church, overseeing the church’s governance and administration, and ensuring that PCUMC’s ministries are accomplishing the church’s purpose, vision, and ongoing plans. Meetings are held at 7:00 pm on the first Monday of every other month.
Committee on Lay Leadership
The Committee on Lay Leadership (CLL) oversees the identification and development of volunteer leadership at PCUMC. Meetings are generally held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm. Initiatives include prayer, identification of potential leadership candidates, oversight of the nominations process, and the interviewing of candidates who have completed the Leadership Application Form. Finance Committee
The Finance Committee develops and administers a coordinated plan of fiscal and administrative policies and procedures for the church. It oversees the financial health of the church, the annual audit, provides financial direction, and communicates the church’s financial condition to the Church Council. Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 pm. Questions: Contact Frank Hansen at 698-1255.
Staff Parish Relations Committee
The Staff Parish Committee acts as a liaison between staff, clergy, and the congregation. The committee reflects biblically on the role and work of our pastors and staff as they carry out their responsibilities. This committee also works to ensure that PCUMC is a fulfilling place to work. Meetings are usually held on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. Members cannot be related to a PCUMC staff member. Questions: Contact Mike Sniecinski at 426-0959.
Board of Trustees
This Board is charged with the care and maintenance of church property – real, personal, and intellectual. It holds title to property, buildings, and equipment. It is also responsible for managing and receiving property for the church. Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. Trustees must be at least eighteen years of age. Major areas of responsibility include building repair/renovation, space planning, disaster planning and recovery, traffic management, and security. Chairperson: Judy Brown. Wills and Legacies Committee
This Committee generates awareness of gift planning; promotes planned gifts; receives, invests, and administers bequests, trusts, and trust funds. Meetings are called as necessary. Expertise in the areas of finance or fundraising is a benefit, e.g., financial officer, management, sales, marketing, or fundraising background. Questions: Contact Bob Burr at 764-1866.
